Non metal crowns

We have all seen crowns with dark lines above them. This can be caused by a number of things - such as a dark root that has become exposed by gum recession. One thing that can make the gum look dark is the metal that is used to strengthen tooth-coloured crowns.

New technology has allowed us to make crowns from non-metal ceramics - a strong enough material not to need metal to fortify it. This allows us to make crowns that have much more natural looking appearances. Light passes through the crown in a very natural way.

Ceramic crowns can be used in many, but not all, situations. Ask your dentist about non-metal crowns.
